GTA IV: DLC Not Arriving Until 2009
June 5, 2008
The first piece of downloadable content for Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto IV will not arrive until 2009, contrary to Microsoft’s previous claims of Autumn ‘08, but it was confirmed that the Xbox 360 exclusive content would be a full EXTRA EPISODE.
No other information was given about the content of the episode, whether it would be another island, city or just extra missions, and no mention of if the PS3 would ever get any additional content was made.
The 2009 release of this highly anticipated episode will provide better balance among top titles, the reason we moved it is more about portfolio balance than anything else… the delay is not about development issues. - Ben Feder CEO Take-Two
By the time the downloadable content arrives, I would expect most if not all GTA IV players will have finished the game and probably traded it in, but even though Microsoft paid an estimated $50m dollars for the content, I doubt they will care as many people have already bought the game on their system due to the lack of DLC for the PS3 SKU.
