E3 Is Coming

July 12, 2008

For those of you who don’t know, E3 is the largest video game show in the world, where the likes of Nintendo, Microsoft and Sony all show off their latest and future game projects and hardware. E3 2008 starts July 14th and runs through to the 17th, click the jump to read some of the rumoured content from the three major console players.

Nintendo
Nintendo showed off a new bit of kit at last years E3, namely the Wii Fit, and as such I don’t think we will be getting too much out of Nintendo at this years show, and since execs at Nintendo poured cold water on rumours of a possible Nintendo HD.

Rumoured Software:

  • Animal Crossing Wii
  • Mario Super Sluggers (wii)
  • Wario Land: Shake It (wii)
  • Kirby Super Star Ultra (DS)
  • Mystery Case Files: MillionHeir (DS)

Microsoft
Rumours have been floating around that Microsoft has a motion sensing controller in the pipeline which will apparently work with the new Banjo Kazooie, so hopefully we will get some concrete details at last. We are also expecting some information on a new Halo franchise.

Rumoured Software:

  • Gears Of War 2
  • Banjo Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts
  • Fable II
  • Viva Pinata 2
  • A New Halo Game

Sony
After a horrific couple of years for Sony, they are finally on a roll as they have started to sell the PS3 as what it should have been from the beginning - a games console!. Top projects for Sony this year are “home” its answer to second life, and new first party software from its developers.

Rumoured Software:

  • God Of War 3
  • Twisted Metal
  • Little Big Planet
  • Resistance 2
  • Killzone 2
  • Afrika
  • Heavy Rain

E3 Starts Monday, and we will keep you up to date with all the latest news, from not only the big three, but everyone else at the show.
