Fringe

July 30, 2008

Pretty much everything that JJ Abrams touches at the moment turns to gold, and his new TV show “Fringe” looks like it is going that way too.

Fringe is set to be a mix of mythology and science centred around a massive global company, which Abrams says is based on IBM (bet they are happy about that) because “they are a company that seems to own everything” – Abrams. The show will feature various conspiracies both public and corporate, and we have been promised that the show won’t go crazy with mythology that the viewer can’t follow.

Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman are the writers of the show, and apparently they have a strong sense of where the story is going, and how long they have to spin out the story, which should avoid a Lost style scenario where it feels like they are dragging it out.

Rumours have been flying around that the show’s creator has been trying to spin some hype for the show by using Cloverfield style tactics, as the first episode was leaked onto the internet, and a strange website has emerged, though all of it has been denied by Abrams.

Fringe should be with us soon, and has more than a hint of the X Files about it, with an FBI agent and a scientist, solving phenomenon’s, unexplained deaths, and conspiracies.
