The Killer Book of True Crime

killerlrg.jpg
The Killer Book of True Crime is essentially a look at some of the most horrendous crimes of the twentieth century, from Ed Gein (who was the real life inspiration for Hannibal Lector & the Psycho movies) to John Wayne Gacy.

Personally if your interested in that sort of thing, this is a good book to get started with, it details the crimes of some of the worst people in history and even some who you may not be aware of, but it fails to go into great depth with some of them reducing their crimes down to less than a paragraph in places, which was a real shame, on the plus side it does do a good job with some of them, maybe even taking it to the other extreme of rambling on a tad.

The book features a few images, but nothing too gory, and also includes little snippets of information splattered around the pages, either informing you of something in a witty way or in the form of a quiz i.e. what happened at all of the following addresses: etc.

The Killer Book Of True Crime is the brainchild of the Philbin brothers (Tom & Michael), Michael is a musician by trade and this is his first book, in which he has teamed up with brother Tom.
Tom has been close to crime for a number of years, writing nine police novels to date.

Overall, if you like gore, or are just an inquisitive person, then this book will certainly quench your thirst, but I would suggest that it is quite a good book to read whilst on a journey, due to the broken up manner of the writing it is quite easy to pick up and put down without any loss of continuity, and the little snippets and quizzes will keep you amused on those long car journeys, it is a great way to learn a basic knowledge of many of the worst crimes ever, but if you are looking for depth then look elsewhere.
