Racy Balloon Pilot Gets Freedom Of The City

Known to many high flyers in the lingerie world as the man who gets them out of bed before dawn – only to send them back if the weather turns nasty at sunrise, Andrew Holly, chief pilot for the two sloggi and two Triumph hot air balloons, has pulled off a remarkable achievement in being awarded the Freedom of the City of London.

Andrew, 35 and the winner of numerous trophies and awards for his hot air ballooning records and achievements gained over eleven years, was the youngest in a group of adventurers to receive this honour for his services to ballooning, at a recent ceremony in the Guildhall. For the four years Andrew has been flying the sloggi racing balloons he has taken them all over the world including South Africa, Japan and Taiwan.  Accompanied by the digitally printed ladies in g-strings, Andrew has flown over and landed in some pretty unusual places, astonishing those on the ground, attracting massive worldwide media attention and earning the sloggi balloons an enthusiastic fan club en route.

Unfortunately, the traditional privileges associated with the Freedom of the City of London, which is believed to have begun in 1237, no longer apply.  Andrew won’t be able to drive a flock of sheep (maybe branded sloggi?) over London Bridge, nor will he be able to stride about the City with a drawn sword.

The sloggi balloons were at the Bristol Balloon Fiesta last weekend, again making appearances on TV news reports.  Then an important date in Andrew’s packed diary is in September when he represents Great Britain at the 2008 Balloon World Championships in Austria.
