Playstation 3 Home Slips Again!

Sony’s most ambitious project to date “Home” (a console version of Second Life) has slipped again. An open beta test was planned shortly after the currently in progress closed beta, but the closed beta has now been extended to iron out a few bugs, with the open beta coming to users around autumn.
The plus side is that Sony is trying to get it right first time for its users, and is even offering more invites to the closed beta to help get things sorted, but many are saying that the delays are killing the software as it was originally intended for launch in Autumn 2007, which means if it meets its currently slated release it will be a full year overdue, when it hits will people still care?
We understand that we are asking PS3 and prospective PS3 users to wait a bit longer, but we have come to the conclusion that we need more time to refine the service to ensure a more focused gaming entertainment experience than what it is today. Our overarching objective is to provide users with new gaming experiences that are available only on PLAYSTATION Home. Spending more time on the development and on the Closed Beta testing reaffirms our commitment to bringing a quality service, maintaining the PlayStation tradition. – Kaz Hirai (Sony CEO)
