Downey Jnr To Get A Deerstalker

The latest hot bit of information out of Hollywood is that Robert Downey Jnr is set to play the part of Sherlock Holmes in the new film by Guy Richie.

As always with casting rumours you would be well advised to take the information with a pinch of salt, but it was originally reported in Entertainment Weekly, which is a damn sight more reliable than most other sources.

Personally I think Downey would be excellent, firstly the new film isn’t based on the original books, but the comic book by Lionel Wigram, so it will be more action and less pipe smoking and violin playing, which would suit Downey’s new found action status (Iron Man), and he has already shown off his solid English accent in films such as Chaplin and Restoration.

The only major doubt over the role, is the timing of the Iron Man sequel, but lets hope it comes off, He would be brilliant at it.
