Don’t Be Afraid Of The Dark

Here at DTA Towers we love everything Guillermo Del Toro, and by god you have to love his work ethic too, how many films is he signed up for?
The Mexican director is moving his whole family to New Zealand for FOUR years whilst he directs the Hobbit, and you would think that would be enough commitment for anyone, but not Del Toro – he is signing up to produce lots of films, the latest of which is a remake of Don’t Be Afraid Of The Dark, the 1973 cult classic where Sally and her husband Alex inherit a Victorian mansion from Sally’s recently deceased grandmother. Despite cloudy warnings from the estate’s handyman, Mr. Harris, Sally opens a sealed fireplace that holds a hideous secret.
As we mentioned Guillermo is a little too busy to direct it himself, so he has given the reigns over to a new director called Troy Nixey (Latchkey’s Lament) but he is still writing the script alongside Matthew Robbins (Mimic), the film is being funded by Miramax, so let’s hope Del Toro gets a decent budget to let his mind run free!
