Akella Hits 15

Popular Russian developer, publisher and distributor of PC software and video games “Akella” is fifteen years old today. The company first launched back in 1993 and by 2007 had released more than 800 games, such as Pirates of the Caribbean on the PC and Xbox.

Akella does a lot of localization work, bringing popular English language games such as the Prince of Persia series, Postal series, Neverwinter Nights 2, EverQuest II, Painkiller, Sacred, Fahrenheit, Test Drive Unlimited, Armed Assault, Assassin’s Creed and others to the Russian market.

The company was started by a group of enthusiastic people who got together to develop the domestic gaming industry. During the early nineties it was not easy to put together a successful company and succeed in the industry that at the time was dominated by software pirates. Akella has proven that they can weather the most difficult conditions and continue to grow and develop having opened branches in many Russian cities.

Today Akella is one of the largest domestic companies specializing in design, publication and distribution of computer games and multimedia products. At Russian Game Developer’s Conference 2008 Akella won in the category “Best publisher company” given as recognition of their work over the past year and for their contribution to the gaming industry.
