Back in the early 90′s Universal pictures bought the rights to make a big screen version of Marvel’s comic book “Iron Man”, but by 1996 the project was going nowhere and Twentieth Century Fox acquired the rights and also the interest of some high flying Hollywood heroes, namely Nicholas Cage, and Tom Cruise. Quentin Tarantino was also approached with a view to him directing the film but again nothing came of it, by which time many fans of the series were beginning to lose hope. Read more

The latest film in the Harry Potter series – “The Order Of The Phoenix” has been given a release date of November 12th 2007 – Widely tipped to be the UK’s No. 1 movie for Christmas 2007, the blockbuster film, which grossed £48.4 million at the UK box office, will be available to own as a double disc set that includes breathtaking featurettes, behind the scenes and additional footage and exhilarating DVD-Rom features. I have just been lucky enough to read Mark Hockleys debut novel The Magic Lands, a surperbly written book, a very dark fairy tale, it follows the adventures of two teenage boys Tom Lewis and Jack Barton in the Magic Lands where dreams and realities blur and nightmares are real, a reviewer said about this book how like Pans Labryrinth it is, and that is true in a way, not the story of course but the how a land of magic can have as many horrors as it can have many wonders. From the moment I first watched the trailers for Rent I knew that I was going to love this film. I am a huge fan of musicals and unlike some people I love to see them taken from the stage and made into movies. This gives more people who wouldn’t be able to get to a theatre chance to see it and appreciate the music and stories for themselves. Obviously as with any film version of a theatre show most people are going to prefer the original version that they have seen at the theatre, that is to be expected, but in the case of Rent I think everyone involved has done a fantastic job and created a movie to be proud of.
