The Killer Book of True Crime

August 13, 2007

killerlrg.jpg
The Killer Book of True Crime is essentially a look at some of the most horrendous crimes of the twentieth century, from Ed Gein (who was the real life inspiration for Hannibal Lector & the Psycho movies) to John Wayne Gacy.

Personally if your interested in that sort of thing, this is a good book to get started with, it details the crimes of some of the worst people in history and even some who you may not be aware of, but it fails to go into great depth with some of them reducing their crimes down to less than a paragraph in places, which was a real shame, on the plus side it does do a good job with some of them, maybe even taking it to the other extreme of rambling on a tad. August 13, 2007

Microsoft has today revealed the winners of its “Dream-Build-Play” competition, where people were invited to make a game for PC or Xbox 360 Live Arcade using the XNA® Game Studio development tool, which is essentially an evolution of the visual C# Express programming language. Tied for first place were David Flook of Ontario, Canada, and James Silva of New York with their respective games: “Blazing Birds,” an action-packed, robotic sports game modeled after the game of badminton, and “The Dishwasher: Dead Samurai,” a highly stylized game of mayhem and revenge. Wild Hogs Movie Review

August 12, 2007

wildhogs.jpg
Wild Hogs is the latest offering from Walt Becker, the director of Van Wilder: Party Liaison and Brad Copeland Writer on and producer of hit shows like Arrested Development and My Name Is Earl.

To be honest I wasn’t expecting much from the film when I went to see it, expecting an updated version of Billy Crystal’s “City Slickers”, and to be fair the two movies do have a fair few similarities.

Essentially John Travolta, Tim Allen, William H Macy & Martin Lawrence are all members of their own biker gang called “Wild Hogs”, which is a pretty sad excuse for a biker gang, just meeting once a week, and not even going to any real biker bars etc, anyway the respective men all have their own problems at home, Travolta is broke and has lost his model wife, Allen used to be a big shot in college, but has mellowed and his kid thinks he’s a dork, Macy is a computer geek trying to find love and Lawrence is your stereotypical hen pecked black man. Sensible World Of Soccer, Analysis and Video

August 8, 2007

It’s back!! possibly the world best footy game “Sensible Soccer” is coming to Xbox Live Arcade, I had pretty much every version of this game back in the old days *showing my age now* on the Amiga 500, 600 and A1200. Sensible soccer proved over the millions of other prettier games that game-play is king, the graphics were basic with little stick-men playing the game, and repetitive crowd noise churning out of the Amiga’s sound card, and the controls followed on from the graphics in their simplicity, with only one key on the keyboard or button on a joy-pad being used to kick the football around, non of this hold A, press right and flick the bumper button to do a swerving shot at goal, just press the button and hold the direction of serve, and that’s why it is such a legendary game to this day.
